Lino and block printing onto fabric
April 30 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Block printing involves carving a desired pattern onto a block, covering that design in ink or dye, and stamping it onto the fabric. Whilst originally blocks could be made from stone, they were most commonly made of wood, and now can be made of many materials including lino, card, and compressed sponge.
This workshop will teach you how to create your own unique design and how to transfer it onto a lino or block print, which you will then carve or cut out. You will have the chance to practice printing your design on paper, and learn about the different types of pattern repeats. Once happy with a design, you will then repeat print it onto fabric. Options for making your fabric into a cushion cover or printing onto a tote bag or similar will be available. You can also print your design onto cards if you wish.
Suitable for complete beginners or the more experienced, this workshop requires a minimum of 6 hours to achieve a good quality design and fabric print. You can choose whether to book a full day’s workshop or 2 half days to suit.
Cost £50 per day or £25 each half day. This includes all tools and materials, tea/coffee and cake plus free parking.
£10 non-refundable deposit is required on booking, as places are limited (we like to work with very small groups so that we can work closely with each of you)
