Loosely Bound: Stitched Book Forms Workshop
July 6 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Explore the world of stitched bindings and learn to make your own books. In this workshop you’ll learn how to make a simple book and be introduced to different binding techniques such as Japanese stab binding. You’ll also begin your own unique book project from recycled papers and found materials. Bookmaking is both a contemporary and traditional craft, useful to those interested in art, design, writing and self-publishing.
Materials will be provided, but please bring a selection of interesting papers (collected and/or recycled) and anything you’d like to turn into a book, such as images, a poem or piece of writing. You can use many different materials in book making; ribbons, found objects, twine and fabric are all welcome!
